Scrimmages: Players will attend two scrimmage sessions for their age group.

The scrimmage evaluation will include at least four (4) evaluators with hockey experience from the CMR coaching staff. These evaluators will be split in two (2) groups to look at two (2) groups of players. These coaches will be selected by the Player Evaluation Committee to ensure proper evaluation of the players.

  • The on-ice coordinator will organize the scrimmages which will include 3 on 3, 4 on 4 and 5 on 5. Players may be mixed and rotated during these sessions.
  • Scrimmages allow the proper evaluation of players on different fundamental aspects of ice hockey. A minimum of 3 evaluators with a max of 5, will score in the areas of: skating, shooting/passing, aggressiveness, positioning and hockey sense.
  • The scoring will be based on a scale of 1 through 9, with 1 being the highest score and 9 being the lowest score.
  • Players will be scored at both scrimmage sessions and the session with the best overall scores will be used in determining their placement. In the event that a player a misses one scrimmage, their single score will be used.

Scores:  Once the final player evaluation session for a particular age group is completed, all player scores from skills and scrimmage sessions will be entered into a spreadsheet. This data entry is performed by a volunteer selected by the President and checked for accuracy by the Hockey Operations team. The Hockey Director and/or Coaching Coordinators will keep all scores and notes. These will be used during the evaluation process. The scores will not be made public.
